Frontline workers need the right to refuse unsafe working conditions. NJ workers celebrated a monumental win; Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order 192 which expands the industries covered by former EO provisions, strengthens the enforcement powers of the NJ Department of Labor, and includes harsher penalties for employers who do not follow regulations.
And MOST notably, the EO is being paired with a state-wide health and safety training program founded and developed by New Labor staff and our coalition partners at the Protect NJ Workers Coalition!
The entire porgram is based on New Labor’s popular education model and small group activity method which not only porvides workers critical information but EMPOWERS them to directly apply what they learn in their workplace, to take ACTION!
We are still fighting, pushing for legislation that would grant workers the Right to Refuse Unsafe work.
