For over twenty years the staff and members of New Labor have developed comprehensive health and safety trainings built on the principles of popular education. Pairing worker experience with technical facts, we are grounded in the belief that first and foremost that workers are the experts of their workplaces and that they as much to offer as our health and safety trainers. We utilize the small group activity method to challenge workers to read our fact sheets on a particular workplace issue and to share to what extent these facts align with their working experience. This allows workers to not only learn what they need more deeply but also to give workers space to reflect on the limits of health and safety laws and to sew seeds to organize for better.
The list of our health and safety trainings includes:
- Hazard mapping
- Chemical Hazards
- Ergonomic Hazards
- Slips, Trips, and Falls
- OSHA Rights
- Health and Safety Committees
